Can we lesser mortals look better than the film stars at the Emmy's?

We all know the stars of today, have a team of make up artists, stylists and hair stylists at their beck and call, but can We Lesser Mortals, who have a lower budget, less time, bingo wings, flabby tummies etc look better? I think we can certainly give them a run for their money…..

Here are some of my suggestions.

1: Red Kate Maxi Dress £295 from Coast. 3/4 sleeves, and plunging neckline, will flatter some-one who wants to hide the top of her arms, and is larger busted.

2. Black super sheer chiffon maxi dress £395 Karen Millen. This gorgeous gothic inspired back lace maxi dress, will flatter someone who is boney around their bust, and who may have broader hips, as the capped sleeves at the top, will help balance out wider hips.

3. Cobalt blue Goddess maxi dress £180 Coast. Has a halter neck and empire line to flatter a larger figure, who may need support for their bust, and a tummy that needs hiding. It is also easier on the purse.

4. Lipsy  berry high neck baroque lace dress £58. This will suit a more petite frame, as maxi dresses can sometimes make smaller ladies look smaller. By elongating your leg length, you can appear taller.

Gorgeous soft leather leggings from Reiss £495

These Carrie leather leggings in black are available at Reiss for £495.
They are bang on trend, but what can we lesser mortals wear who may

a) not have that much money

b) not have such a finely toned backside

c) may not be 21.

There are some really great pu versions around now at high street stores like H&M where they were ONLY £7.99 and Next for £28, but frankly, there is a certain age, when we have to question how appropriate leather leggings are.
Most women of all ages, have now come to terms with skinny jeans, and they are showing no signs of going away yet. My answer would be to buy some coated skinny jeans, (which I advised you to buy in the sales in the summer) which are more subtle and easier to wear.
I like Karen Millen coated red and black coated jeans £99 ( the red are actually a deep berry colour). Dress down with a simple flowing shirt, stylish blazer or a chunky knit. Do Not Wear with a boob tube.
